BLUETOWN TO ADVISE THE WORLD BANK ON NEW ‘MOONSHOT AFRICA’ INITIATIVE
BLUETOWN is invited as partner of a multi-stakeholder consultation group to advise the development of the World Bank Group’s strategy for ‘Moonshot Africa’ – a new initiative with an objective to double broadband access by 2021 and reach universal service access by 2030 in Africa and the Middle East.
The consultation group is made up of key ICT industry partners that will provide inputs and identify possible ways of increasing connectivity and reaching universal access in Africa and the Middle East. The strategy will be launched in the fall 2019 and will guide the roll-out and investments of at least 25 billion USD over the next 11 years.
“BLUETOWN is excited to be part of this prominent advisory group, sharing our experiences and very different perspective on what it takes to connect underserved communities. Our approach offers a sustainable connectivity solution even in rural and remote areas”, says BLUETOWN CEO Peter Ib.
