The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (“CSIR”), part of the Department of Science and Innovation in South Africa, recently completed the procurement process of the second phase of a Rural TV White Space project. The project deploys connectivity solutions across the country and hands them to local small and medium-sized Internet Service Providers for commercial operation and maintenance.
BLUETOWN, via our distribution partner in South Africa – Indigo Broadband – won the tender, as in the first phase, to provide the power solution for the remote installations. The power units have been delivered to the CSIR and await deployment across the country.
A conference hosted by the CSIR concluded the project procurement. Here participating companies demonstrated their solutions. Indigo Broadband attended with a demonstration of the complete rural connectivity solution, including TVWS equipment, Wi-Fi access point, and BLUETOWN Power Unit Lite with a solar panel to power the site equipment.
