In early 2019, BLUETOWN announced a partnership with Microsoft and their Airband Initiative. The initial agreement was to provide Internet access to approximately 800,000 unserved people in the eastern part of Ghana. Now two years later, we have 2.5M people under coverage in rural and semi-urban communities across Ghana.
Currently, we are growing our Ghana ISP business by connecting people through various solutions, including public hotspots, home broadband, managed services for institutions, and enterprise solutions. Staying true to BLUETOWN’s mission, we are also committed to connecting the most rural Ghanaian communities, which is only possible in close collaboration with our partners, including Microsoft.

About Microsoft Airband
Microsoft’s Airband Initiative aims to close the digital divide and bring high-speed internet connectivity to unconnected communities around the world. It officially launched in 2017 with the goal of bringing broadband connectivity to 2 million people in the U.S. by July 2022. After early success, that goal grew to 3 million people in the U.S. — and an additional 40 million across the globe.
