Powering up BLUETOWN in Rwanda: 1st sites live and deployment is ongoing.
BLUETOWN Field Engineer installing a site in Rwamagana, Rwanda
RWANDA: In October 2016, BLUETOWN deployed our first site in Rwanda. It marked the beginning of a country-wide deployment to connect government institutions, schools and health centers to the internet – increasing local efficiency by enabling e-governance services, e-learning and remote access to medical specialists.
The country-wide network is based on BLUETOWN’s unique Point to Multipoint (PtMP) Solution. This future-proof wireless solution is designed with expandability in mind – making it easy to add new locations such as offices or private homes to the network. It allows us to connect a large area at a very low cost.
Roll-out and handover to Broadband Systems Corporation (BSC), a governmentally owned operator, is scheduled to be completed in 2017. The country-wide broadband network will significantly contribute to Rwanda’s VISION 2020 of becoming an information-rich and knowledge-based society and economy by 2020.
