BLUETOWN and our partners, BSNL and GoIP, have signed a multimillion-dollar agreement with Jharkhand State Government in India to roll out last mile Wi-Fi solutions to connect the masses in rural areas in the state of Jharkhand. The agreement is under the Indian government vision “Digital India”, which aims to connect the rural areas with modern communication infrastructure, thus increasing standard of living and GDP.
Though, the fiber backhaul infrastructure is being deployed at a fast pace in rural India by the Government, there has been an absence of “last mile” access solutions in the rural areas, especially for broadband. “BLUETOWN is very proud that our last-mile technology as well as business model of “Hotspot – as – Managed Service” has been chosen as the solution to close this gap. “We expect to connect about 1 million people to the internet with our Wi-Fi solution in Jharkhand” says Satya N. Gupta, BLUETOWN’s Country Manager in India.
